"I was amazed at how
well you engaged and held the attention of our students (and adults,
for that matter). Your knowledge of historical fact, current of
feeling and opinion and your own attention to detail provided
a realistic talk. Your sense of humor and your awareness of this
age group's sense of humor was very effective. Most refreshing
to me was the care you took not to leave students with a misunderstanding.
This concern for accuracy and not exploiting an opportunity for
humor is unusual."

and excellent attitude with our kids was greatly appreciated."

"When you told those
stories, in my mind, I saw what you were saying."
K.E., Student
Riddle Elementary School
"We really enjoyed your
program...It was a very positive, humorous, informative program.
Our teachers were equally enthusiastic. We felt that it brought
this time period alive for everyone. We hope to have you back
soon".
D.W., Teacher
Pioneer Elementary School
"Your performance of
a Union soldier...supported and enhanced our curriculum perfectly!"
Fourth Grade Teacher

"I can certainly see
why you have such an excellent reputation. We hope we can get
on your schedule for next year"
L. N. Teacher,
Rock Creek Elementary School
"Some of the stories
you told us kept us on the edge of our seats and made us really
think about and picture how things might have been. The cool thing
about the stories were how they were so detailed".
A.W., Student
Riverview Junior High School
"Thank
you for coming to Riverview to talk to us about the Civil War.
It was really neat to see someone dressed up like a Union soldier.
When you were talking to us, I almost forgot that you weren't
a real Civil War soldier. It was really neat to hear the perspective
of the war from someone who sounded like he was actually there,
instead of just
reading about it in a boring old history book. Singing songs was
really
fun too. I thought it was interesting getting to listen to what
soldiers back then sang about. I thought your presentation was
a great, fun way to learn about history and I thought you did
an awesome
job too. Again, I want to thank you for coming and I hope you
come in the years to come to teach other kids. Thank you!"
Eighth
Grade Student, Riverview School
"Mr. Stonerock has been
a marvelous stimulator of student interest...he has my highest
praise and admiration for his work with young people."
Glen Dillman, 1984 Indiana
Teacher of the Year
Carroll Junior High School

"Kevin Stonerock has
appeared in our school over the last four years (as "Billy
Yank"). Our students are absolutely spell-bound by his first
person characterization of life during the Civil War years. He
weaves a tale that becomes believeable in a sense it happened
last week. I am thoroughly impressed with his work and would highly
recommend him".
